The Four Horseman, Should be Five.......

This Years All-Star game in Houston will feature four of the five Pistons Starters.......

Detroit was rewarded Thursday night for one of the best starts in NBA history when four Pistons made the All-Star team as reserves. Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace all were picked for the Eastern Conference team that will be led by Detroit coach Flip Saunders. "I would just like to thank the coaches in the league for recognizing our players," Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars told The Associated Press on Thursday night. "What the coaches are saying by voting our guys on is that they appreciate unselfishness, great attitudes and team basketball."

Detroit will be the first team since 1998 to send four starters to the All-Star game. The feat was last accomplished by the Lakers that year when they sent Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel to the 1998 game in New York.

This is great for the Pistons and says a lot for their style of play and that the league is finally recognizing a "TEAM" in the NBA. For so many years, and to a certain extent today, the NBA has been portrayed as an individual league. It's about time that they see the Pistons for what they are worth, a team. It's too bad it took three plus years to do so.

I keep hearing talk about the major "snubs" in this years selection. Names such as Michael Redd and Gilbert Arenas lead the list of players left off the team. Sure these guys are good, but I feel one major player was left off this years team, Tayshaun Prince. Richard Hamilton commented, "I wish Tayshaun would be there. If that would have happened, that would have been incredible because it hasn't happened before."

Tay does not score the most points out of the major snubs, but I believe that his defense is second to none.
He is also part of the best team in the NBA and a major part of their success. The Pistons team, as Wade Bloggs eluded to in a previous story, has many players that can beat you. Most of the time, one of the starting five will step up when another is having a bad game. There is still an outside chance that Tay can make the team. David Stern, commissioner of the NBA, has to choose a replacement for injured forward Jermaine O' Neal. Many speculate that Redd or Arenas will get the nod.

I guess I shouldn't get too greedy, but that is my nature to be that way. Be happy that the Pistons will have 4 players in the game and that the NBA coaches finally have rewarded the Pistons with these selection. Maybe this will quiet all of the critics(See Above Photo). Chauncey and Rip have been deserving for quite some time now. It should be fun to watch if they are all in at the same time. When asked, Rip said, "it will be incredible to be there with those guys and if Flip plays us all at the same time that will be even more exciting." I'll be watching from the MSB suite.

KB out.
